Working Mama

So this past week was my first week back to work full time...YEAH what a week. Tiernan was awesome but there was just so much going on outside of work plus all the work that goes into Tiernan that I had my share of meltdowns. Not the best week of my life but we survived.

I put a whole bunch of pictures on facebook (over 80) so check that out but here are a few from the last 2 months:

We have his halloween outfit! Almost 3 weeks old at this point

Look at those rolls!!!

Computer time with Daddy

Playtime with Daddy

He was so out after feeding him that he let his neck fall back like this. He must like eating to get so relaxed! I took a quick pic before getting him more comfy...I also kissed his neck like crazy :D

Cute nephew & Talking

So things are starting to get into a slightly easier pattern so I will post pictures and stories hopefully tomorrow. BUT I had to share a story my sister told me a little bit ago. When I was so sick she reminded her kids to pray for Auntie Lee (that's what they call me) that she get better and for Tiernan (or Auntie Lee's baby since the little ones can't say Tiernan yet) that he not get sick....Well when it was Seth's turn (he's about to turn 5), this is the prayer he would say "Dear Heavenly Father, please bless Auntie Lee's baby to not get swine flu. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." LOL That is all he said all day when it was his turn to pray; praying over food, family prayer, breakfast, lunch and dinner!! What a cutie! I can't wait till Tiernan says cute things like that.

Speaking of talking...He started "talking" just this morning. He cooed for Nana before she left for work, he "talked" to Daddy on the phone and even Auntie Kimberly got to hear his vocals. I cannot believe how big he is already. I love this child so much and he just got here!!! It is truly amazing.

Newborn Shots

So I have a really bad sinus infection and am feeling pretty cruddy still. A friend came today to take some newborn shots of our precious boy. I will post more tomorrow if I start to get my energy back, but here's the one that Daddy loves the best...I wonder why?? :)

Update

So we don't really think I got the flu because I never had any other symptoms besides some body aches (mainly in abdominal area) and the fever. My fever should have broken and stayed away after being on Tamiflu for 48 hours....as of this morning I am on my 4th day of Tamiflu and currently have a temp of 100.3. I called the nurse hotline last night and they don't think I had either versions of the flu because I never had any respiratory problems (and Eric did...) So we went through other symptoms and I might have a UTI or an infection at my incision site. I have my incision check appt today at 3:15 pm today so I should know more info later today. **Update - No UTI and no incision infection...so now I just have to ride this out...**

With all that said, that's why I have not felt better to post the whole birth/hospital experience and fun times since we got home. I will do this when I feel good enough to sit at the computer for longer than 5 minutes. One thing I thought would be cute to share are the nicknames we already have Tiernan!

Nicknames
Little Man
T-Man
T
Bruiser
Dooder
Chubbs McGee (this is Uncle Topher's name for him)
Dooder McDooderson Pants (Uncle Topher helped inspire this one)
Chubber McChubberson Pants (Uncle topher helped inspire this one too)

Tomorrow is the big day!

We are getting so excited for tomorrow. Tiernan is definitely our baby - he has Eric's sense of humor because he thought it would oh so funny to give mommy quite a few contractions yesterday. We both "talked" to him and explained he needed to wait till Monday when the surgery is scheduled. No unexpected visits please! See he's my son because he's already organized and following a list/deadline :D

We have about 25 hours to go until the surgery which means we have about 25 hours and 15 minutes till he gets here. Who knows when I will update the blog next....Hopefully I will feel good enough end of next week, at least to direct Eric or Nana how to update. So please be patient if it takes us a few days to get pictures up.

We love you all and cannot wait to share our experience of parenthood with you. Next time we post we will be Mommy and Daddy!!! :)

Baby Update

So I know I just posted pics and I have a few more posts to update you all on but I figured I should post some baby news...

16 days till the big day. I have daily contractions already, about 2 -4 per day but not real pattern and they are only about a 2 on the pain scale. Last night was the only time I had regular ones, every hour for 5 hours straight. Then of course not much activity today at all. But that's ok if he waits a little longer to come. I have a lot to still prep at work for my time off.

Just now I was singing to the iTunes and he was kicking :P So much fun ahead for us!! Anyway I digress: Baby is approx 9 lbs. The ultrasound tech today said 9 lb 5 oz but she said she could be off a little either direction. SO we are going to have a big baby. But at least he is not 19 lbs right??? I see my doctor on Tuesday so we will see what he has to say about all this large-ness.

Everyday the Lord blesses us more as we prepare for this child. I am so excited for him to come!!! And so is Eric. Mom can hardly stand herself. Keep checking for more info on baby Davis! Love to you all.

Updated Pics

So I wanted to post some preggo pics here for you to look at. Though my tummy is bigger now than shown here. I still need to update about Wicked, but that is on the list for this weekend. Ok here we go:
Here I am at work. This was in July I think...I can't wear my jeans anymore. And I am even bigger now. Crazy huh?

This is also from work, about a week after the one above. I think this was end of August.

The women from my ward threw me a nice shower. I will be sure to post pictures of the whole thing soon. But here's a favorite with Noah Pasion, the cute son of Andrea who worked with me in Primary.

This is from our Birthday Night out. Since my birthday is August 23rd and Eric is September 1st we always celebrate together. Plus a dear friend from work, Belinda, has the same birthday as me just 2 years younger. So she came with us, joined by Mom and Shawn, another friend from work. We went to the melting pot for the cheese and chocolate fondue courses. (The whole 4 course thing is just too darn expensive!!) So here we have Eric and I, then Mom and I below (I love this picture of us!!). I left my flash drive at work so I will add pictures of our whole party tomorrow when I have them back.

And these pictures are from when we went to see WICKED. I will post about that night but I wanted to get some recent pictures. This was on September 8th.

I just wish this picture wasn't blurry :(
The pouty face picture was because Eric told me he couldn't get the camera to work...and then he took the picture. Nice honey. He says it's his favorite shot now :P
This is me all preggo and ready for the theater. There are a few more pictures but I will post them with the WICKED post. Below is my favorite shot of the two of us together.

Things are going well, feeling great, baby is still bigger than average and I have an ultrasound scheduled for the 29th (earliest they could get me in). Love to you all!

FREAKING FANTASTICALLY WONDERFUL AWESOMENESS!!!

That is my description of the most PERFECT date Eric took me on last night. I will put a full review later but I just had to put this up there and say that Eric is truly the best husband in the world, that was the best birthday present and he has infinite brownie points since he planned all this on his own for our birthdays this year. I LOVE YOU HONEY!!!

(P.S. - I also have funny doodle drawings showing my excitement while I was stuck in a meeting yesterday morning. I will put that up here, with the review and the pics.)

WICKED & The Best Husband Ever

I know I haven't been able to post...that's cause I still have no computer at home :( But I have to put this up here: I AM GOING TO SEE WICKED IN 3.5 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED.

I have the best husband in the entire world and I love him so much. Not just because he got us tickets to Wicked for our birthday celebration but mostly because of the little things he does: kisses me head when I am having a pregnancy hormone moment, gets little things for me so I don't have to get up which is becoming more of a difficult task everyday, talking to our son through the belly.....He is just so sweet and such a good man to me, my mom, total strangers, our friends. What can I say? I LOVE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

Long Time, No Post = LONG Time, BIG post

Sorry it has been a while since we posted. Our home computer died and we are in the process of getting a new one built so that kind of cuts down when we can get the blog updated, emails checked etc.

Having Kristopher here was great! He's never here long enough and because I didn't have time off it felt like I didn't get to see him :( But he will try to come later this fall/winter, maybe for Christmas so I am sure I will have lots of time to see him then. He gave me two books for my birthday (Thank you Topher!) and they are both great.
The first book was World War Z, which is about......well the short answer is Zombies but it's so much more than that. I don't want to give away too much from the book, but I will share a little. Basically there is a disease and if you become infected with it then after you die you will reanimate as a Zombie. The disease breaks out in China, where they try to cover it up, but start killing mass amounts of people....which causes panic, people start fleeing which starts the spread of it...You can see how this would spiral out of control. The rest of the book unfolds what happens and how the world responds. The book is easy to read because the book is written in the form of an oral history, so it's people giving their personal account of what they experienced. It is hard to read however, because it's so realistic in the way each country responds. Yes Zombies = not so realistic. The terror, the war, the lack of response from people until the zombies are literally breaking into their homes = VERY realistic. I think this is a great book everyone should read. They are making it into a movie, according to my reliable brother who knows all things relating to movies. Overall I highly recommend this book but know that some of the stories are hard to read.
The second book he bought me is The Historian. He described it as DaVinci code for Vampires. I would say that is a good start but it's much more rich than the DaVinci code, especially in the history that it mentions. (Reading this book shows me how lacking my education really is. There is so much that happened in Europe, and around the world for that matter, that we do not cover in general education. I mean you get the super powers like England and France, but not Romania, Hungary, Turkey etc.) ANYWAY I digress, this book deals with the hunt for THE vampire: Vlad Tepes, or Vlad Dracula who was an actual ruler in Wallachia, a region in southern Romania. That's right folks Dracula really existed! Well a really cruel ruler, who delighted in gore and torture existed. Whether he was a Vampire is your decision....The book covers three different decades as a small group of people who don't seem to be connected find they are all bound in the same deadly search: The burial location of Vlad Dracula. I am thoroughly enjoying this book!! It's almost 700 pages long and I am about 75% done. I haven't even finished it yet and I would recommend it to people who like a good novel. One caveat: It has lots of details & history, and does skip between decades so you have to pay attention in the beginning as you learn who's speaking. Definitely read this one too if Vampires are your thing.

Ok so now that I have done justice to the Birthday presents Kristopher gave me....Let's see what else is new. Let's update on the Nana. Mom is working and getting ready for the baby (just like me). She enjoys getting her Relief Society lessons ready each month, always picking our brains about things she should talk about. She's really dedicated and makes sure all the women in Primary get a hand out of her lesson so they can read it and feel included with all the ladies in the ward. Besides that, Nana McGuire is SO excited that Tiernan is almost here. She's throwing me a shower, with the help of a friend of mine from work (the ladies at church are doing one tonight - so exciting!). We are doing a sewing party/prep for the shower next weekend and she is so excited for that. I know I keep saying excited but that sums up all her feelings!!!!!!!!!!! She's been a great sounding board as I have had many questions with the first baby. I love having her close and I am so excited that Tiernan will get to have his Nana with all the time. I think I will be a truly blessed, borderline spoiled, first time Mom. What can I say? She's awesome!

With me?? Not too much: Just getting super excited!! 49 days to go. I have an appointment on Monday with my OB so I will hopefully get a little more info on the expected size of Tiernan at the time of birth. My tummy currently measures a few more centimeters than average for how far along I am. A few centimeters might not seem like that big but it is! Pre-natal class is going really well and despite having a few pregnancy hormone moments I have discovered an inner calm/peace that was seriously lacking before now. I am really excited for the birth of my first son. Life is great and we are truly blessed.

Eric's winding down school (just a few more things to accomplish). He is busy networking with a local department; he did his first ride along with their department last week. He got to wash the fire trucks and spend all day getting to know a lot of the crew there. They test in December so that is something he is working toward right now. He is taking an EMT course this quarter and is excited to get his license updated for WA state. As far as getting ready for Tiernan, he has put together the furniture for our little man's room. When he leaves for work in the morning he loves to rub/kiss the belly and say I love you son. SO GROSS! He also likes to tell me "Take good care of MY son". I tell him he's only Eric's son when he's bad like kicking Mommy's bladder :)

So you can see we are doing well and just getting ready for the little addition to our lives. Best of love to you and yours!!

DYING FROM HEAT EXHAUSTION

Although today is cooler - this week has been ridiculous!!! 100 degree heat in Washington for one whole week?? I mean no one here has AC in their houses so we all roast every night. It just sucks. I have been a patron of the local movie theater so I am sure they appreciate the heat. I saw My Sister's Keeper and I loved it....till the last five or ten minutes. I was so disappointed with the way they ended it. I read the book and was so shocked that they could change it so much. But besides that dramatic change it was good - a tear jerker for sure and I was crying after about 5-10 minutes.

SPOILER ALERT - If you have not seen Harry Potter yet and don't want me to ruin it please stop reading. I will be as vague as possible but don't want to ruin it for anyone.

So this week I have also seen Harry Potter and it was freaking awesome. I actually liked some of the things they added that were not in the book. Was a little disappointed with the way there was so much emphasis on the half blood prince and then about 20 seconds of explanation about it but I don't think there was much explanation in the book either now that I think about it. I think it just seemed rushed in the movie. I was bouncing and anxious as soon as Harry & Dumbledore left for their seaside adventure. OH BOY it was just good. I think this is how the movies should have been from the beginning and definitely my favorite movie so far.

I hope you are all well and if you are stuck in this heat - heaven help you too. Peace!!

Check out the new main pic above

I got this pic from someone else who attended Laura's wedding and I really like it. Nothing really new to report: Just entered the 3rd trimester, had to buy new shoes because my feet are swelling, getting bigger in the mid section and the hormones are definitely getting stronger. I have had a few more crying moments but not too many rage moments - certainly none as memorable as listed here already. I will try to remember if something funny happens because I know Stacy LOVES my funny stories :D

Love to you all,
Chippy

This picture is from my boss - he found this funny thing in his Grandmother's apartment that he was cleaning out.

And this picture is me before Girls Night Out with our ward. The sassy red shoes are new for my swollen feet.

Rage and Frustration

So last night I had the first crying jag hormonal issue and I will post about that later today when I can get input from Mom and Eric to make sure I get it right. Today it's funny to me but last night it was not funny at all.

But I digress because today we feature RAGE. I went to lunch with some friends from work and after we went to the mall to get Godiva chocolate because we like to do that. We get out of the car and as soon as I stand up, all the sudden I have to pee....Like REALLY need to pee NOW. So we go into the mall and I start walking toward the bathroom, following the signs...

After spending half my life walking across the entire mall and trying not to pee on myself, I finally see a Security guard and ask him how much further to the bathroom. "Just around that corner M'am." Erg - M'am.....Anyway after walking across the whole mall, now I have to walk down a white long hallway of death. Seriously you could get killed in this bathroom and NO ONE would ever find you.

So after going on this adventure to the bathroom and half running cause I HAD to go, I now have an cramp in the arch of my left foot. I see Baskin and Robbins across from the bathroom and I think "Hey - I am warm from running for my life, my foot hurts, I should get some ice cream." A small thought goes through my head "You are in a white dress and your chest is starting to get huge due the child growing inside, so do you really want to chance spilling on yourself...Sure why not?"

So I get two scoops of chocolately goodness and I start my adventure back to my friends at Godiva on the OTHER flippin' side of the world. I show up and they have been waiting to pay because I have the Godiva rewards card so I feel bad for making them salivate over the gourmet choco-goodness....and THEN, right there I spill on the right side of chest, a nice chocolate spot to remember this adventure by.

So now I am so frustrated because I spilled (I think I stamped my foot ("I thought girls only did that in movies" - five bucks if you can name where that comes from) and I am upset because the chest is just too huge and who really needs them anyway??? Then we get to the car and I use a baby wipe to get most of it off my white dress....before spilling on my sky blue jacket that goes over my dress...

The next thing I remember is looking up and seeing RED. I zero in on a couple holding hands and being cute right outside the car. I was so close to just rolling down the window to warn her, "Run away from him! Don't procreate because your boobs will get too huge for you to enjoy ice cream ever again!!!!!!!!!" But I came to my senses and kept my cool because I thought that my friends might think I am truly crazy and the people outside the car might call the cops because of the deranged look on my face.

So then Belinda says “oh just get mad at Shawn”, but Shawn has two kids and he knows what pregnant emotions are like so he goes all silent and non-responsive because he thinks I am going to freak out at him next....I told him I am only allowed to get angry with Eric cause he's the hubs and loves me even when I lose it.

And that is why today totally sucks!!!

Food, glorious food...

So here are pictures of my most recent cooking escapades. This is an appetizer that is SO easy to make and SO yummy. Some reviews of this appetizer include:
"Baby, you've been holding out on me for the last 3 years!" - Eric

"Davis, this is really good!" - Belinda

And here we have the stages of my chicken pot pie. I didn't do a double crust so that cut a lot of calories and fat. That made me happy since I am trying to make healthier meals. Some reviews for this dish:
"Grrryummmm. Schreally good." - Eric

"Yummy!" - Mom

"You made that? Wow." - Belinda

I forgot to get a picture of the pot pie completed but here's a pic of it half way consumed. As you can see it was delish!

Cooking Bug

I have FINALLY been bitten after 3 1/2 years of marriage. It's about freaking time!!! I will post pics of my most recent endeavors and keep you updated on any awesome recipes I find.

I had a little OCD kick in today (though if you ask Mom she'll say it's a LOT of OCD that kicks in these days...) Anyway I have had a lot of recipe books that I only want a handful of recipes from. I always have wanted to go through them, rip out what I want and add it to my recipe binder/book. (It's that whole having too many things in the cupboard that I don't need and use that freaks me out.) So this morning I started this project. I now need page protectors and/or recipe sheets to put the various recipes into but I have the binder all organized finally. And I have the loose recipes in order of their category: Appetizer, salad, side dish and entree. That way when I get the sleeve protectors BOOM they just go on into the right place. I now need a bigger binder for my recipes...

Dessert - Well that's a whole other story. For the section on desserts I have it all divided into these 10 categories: cheesecakes, cakes, pies, pastries, misc. (sauces, random things that don't fit anywhere else), cookies, kid stuff, dessert breads, cold stuff and drinks.
I now have to get a binder just for the desserts! :D It's only going to be a one inch binder though so don't go thinking we are heifers!!!

Pregnancy is going well. Crazy to think we have less than 14 weeks to go; we are under 100 days away from Tiernan's arrival. WOW time has flown. Tired sometimes, heartburn most of the time and happy/ecstatic/awed all the time that we get this bundle of joy. Hope all is well with you and yours!!!
