Long Time, No Post = LONG Time, BIG post

Sorry it has been a while since we posted. Our home computer died and we are in the process of getting a new one built so that kind of cuts down when we can get the blog updated, emails checked etc.

Having Kristopher here was great! He's never here long enough and because I didn't have time off it felt like I didn't get to see him :( But he will try to come later this fall/winter, maybe for Christmas so I am sure I will have lots of time to see him then. He gave me two books for my birthday (Thank you Topher!) and they are both great.
The first book was World War Z, which is about......well the short answer is Zombies but it's so much more than that. I don't want to give away too much from the book, but I will share a little. Basically there is a disease and if you become infected with it then after you die you will reanimate as a Zombie. The disease breaks out in China, where they try to cover it up, but start killing mass amounts of people....which causes panic, people start fleeing which starts the spread of it...You can see how this would spiral out of control. The rest of the book unfolds what happens and how the world responds. The book is easy to read because the book is written in the form of an oral history, so it's people giving their personal account of what they experienced. It is hard to read however, because it's so realistic in the way each country responds. Yes Zombies = not so realistic. The terror, the war, the lack of response from people until the zombies are literally breaking into their homes = VERY realistic. I think this is a great book everyone should read. They are making it into a movie, according to my reliable brother who knows all things relating to movies. Overall I highly recommend this book but know that some of the stories are hard to read.
The second book he bought me is The Historian. He described it as DaVinci code for Vampires. I would say that is a good start but it's much more rich than the DaVinci code, especially in the history that it mentions. (Reading this book shows me how lacking my education really is. There is so much that happened in Europe, and around the world for that matter, that we do not cover in general education. I mean you get the super powers like England and France, but not Romania, Hungary, Turkey etc.) ANYWAY I digress, this book deals with the hunt for THE vampire: Vlad Tepes, or Vlad Dracula who was an actual ruler in Wallachia, a region in southern Romania. That's right folks Dracula really existed! Well a really cruel ruler, who delighted in gore and torture existed. Whether he was a Vampire is your decision....The book covers three different decades as a small group of people who don't seem to be connected find they are all bound in the same deadly search: The burial location of Vlad Dracula. I am thoroughly enjoying this book!! It's almost 700 pages long and I am about 75% done. I haven't even finished it yet and I would recommend it to people who like a good novel. One caveat: It has lots of details & history, and does skip between decades so you have to pay attention in the beginning as you learn who's speaking. Definitely read this one too if Vampires are your thing.

Ok so now that I have done justice to the Birthday presents Kristopher gave me....Let's see what else is new. Let's update on the Nana. Mom is working and getting ready for the baby (just like me). She enjoys getting her Relief Society lessons ready each month, always picking our brains about things she should talk about. She's really dedicated and makes sure all the women in Primary get a hand out of her lesson so they can read it and feel included with all the ladies in the ward. Besides that, Nana McGuire is SO excited that Tiernan is almost here. She's throwing me a shower, with the help of a friend of mine from work (the ladies at church are doing one tonight - so exciting!). We are doing a sewing party/prep for the shower next weekend and she is so excited for that. I know I keep saying excited but that sums up all her feelings!!!!!!!!!!! She's been a great sounding board as I have had many questions with the first baby. I love having her close and I am so excited that Tiernan will get to have his Nana with all the time. I think I will be a truly blessed, borderline spoiled, first time Mom. What can I say? She's awesome!

With me?? Not too much: Just getting super excited!! 49 days to go. I have an appointment on Monday with my OB so I will hopefully get a little more info on the expected size of Tiernan at the time of birth. My tummy currently measures a few more centimeters than average for how far along I am. A few centimeters might not seem like that big but it is! Pre-natal class is going really well and despite having a few pregnancy hormone moments I have discovered an inner calm/peace that was seriously lacking before now. I am really excited for the birth of my first son. Life is great and we are truly blessed.

Eric's winding down school (just a few more things to accomplish). He is busy networking with a local department; he did his first ride along with their department last week. He got to wash the fire trucks and spend all day getting to know a lot of the crew there. They test in December so that is something he is working toward right now. He is taking an EMT course this quarter and is excited to get his license updated for WA state. As far as getting ready for Tiernan, he has put together the furniture for our little man's room. When he leaves for work in the morning he loves to rub/kiss the belly and say I love you son. SO GROSS! He also likes to tell me "Take good care of MY son". I tell him he's only Eric's son when he's bad like kicking Mommy's bladder :)

So you can see we are doing well and just getting ready for the little addition to our lives. Best of love to you and yours!!
